Da 65 anni protagonista della storia del costume e della mobilità del nostro Paese, Vespa festeggia i 150 anni dell’Italia unita: nasce oggi Vespa PX 150° Anniversario Unità d’Italia. La Vespa ha attraversato la storia del nostro Paese, e di innumerevoli nazioni, come un fenomeno unico della mobilità e del costume. È uno dei simboli della creatività e dell’industria italiane più conosciuti in tutto il mondo. Nata 65 anni fa – il brevetto e la prima serie entrata in produzione risalgono alla primavera del 1946 – nell’Italia del secondo dopoguerra Vespa è stata per milioni di italiani il mezzo ideale per la conquista della mobilità individuale. È stata musica, ribellione, romanticismo e fuga, la promessa di libertà per tutti, il simbolo degli anni della “Dolce Vita”. Protagonista nella “rivoluzione delle idee” che i giovani degli anni ‘60 e ‘70 portarono a compimento. Ha accolto il Rock‘n Roll in Europa ed è arrivata correndo alla MTV Generation e alla musica digitale. Superata l’incredibile cifra di 17 milioni di unità sinora prodotte, Vespa è ancora oggi conosciuta e venduta in tutto il mondo, dall’Europa, agli Stati Uniti, all’Asia.
Per festeggiare i 150 anni dell’Unità d’Italia, il Gruppo Piaggio ha realizzato una serie speciale di Vespa PX 150, caratterizzato da un’elegante livrea bianca su cui spiccano gli inserti in verde-bianco-rosso del tricolore italiano che decorano le fiancate e lo scudo, dove campeggia anche il logo ufficiale del 150° anniversario 1861-2011. Nel controscudo, invece, è applicata la targhetta identificativa che certifica l’appartenenza di ogni esemplare a questa speciale serie celebrativa.
Vespa PX 150th Anniversary of the Unification of Italy has, as part of its standard equipment, the spare tyre which, true to the Vespa style, is installed on the left side. The technical characteristics which have made the Vespa PX so successful have not changed: the manual transmission with four gears on the handle, the legendary sturdiness guaranteed by the body in steel and the reliability of a simple and indestructible engine, along with an unmistakeable design that never goes out of fashion.
19 October 1977: Piaggio launches a radically new Vespa model with a very modern design and avant-garde technical features. It is called PX and the first version mounts a 125 cc two-stroke engine, and the price at the moment of its launch is 673,000 lire. It has shortly afterwards been joined by models with engine capacities of 150 and 200 cc. In 2011 it is thirty-four years since the Vespa PX was launched, and very few vehicles, not only among “two-wheelers”, can vaunt such an achievement. The record appears even more exceptional if we consider the extraordinary diffusion of this great “classic”: more than 3,000,000 scooters sold in every continent. A large majority of the scooters that have been produced and sold are still running about in streets all over the world, bearing witness to a sturdiness and reliability that have become proverbial. An ideal connecting link between the history of the world’s most famous scooter and its future, the Vespa PX returns in its most classical engine capacity. Inimitable style, engines that respect the most severe anti-emission regulations and traditional four-gear transmission make the Vespa PX unmistakeable and unique.
