In line with\u00a0the architects’s idea\u00a0according to which each work is unique, regardless its dimension or budget<\/em>, the architectural practice\u00a0CORREIA\/RAGAZZI ARQUITECTOS\u00a0<\/strong>has\u00a0pursed quality through its project\u2019s innovation and rigor one more time. The project of\u00a0Restaurante das Lapas<\/strong>\u00a0by\u00a0CORREIA\/RAGAZZI\u00a0ARQUITECTOS<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0consisted of an extension of an old building located in\u00a0Vila Me\u00e3 in Portogallo.<\/p>\n

The site was outlined by a pre-existing<\/strong> house, with a terrace quite typical from the region, located at the upper part of the terrain, which has a singular topography<\/strong>, accentuated by slopes and terraces defined by stone walls.
\nThe architectonic renovation<\/strong>\u00a0of the restaurant, is marked by a clear distinction between the pre-existing building, which corresponds to the rehabilitation, and the new building that would constitute an extension.<\/p>\n

Although both buildings stand upon the terrain terraces<\/strong>, the referred\u00a0difference between them is accentuated by its orientation and window openings, forming an \u201cL\u201d shape that opens to the view, and defines a\u00a0pleasant exterior area. Both these volumes receive the restaurant with the entrance at the upper level of the terrain at the same height as the main street, Rua das Lapas.<\/p>\n

The new volume, characterised\u00a0by a modular wood structure<\/strong>, takes inspiration from the existing stone building for\u00a0its morphology\u00a0and volume. In this way, the two buildings connect paths\u00a0and fluxes, both private and public.
\nAs the user moves away from the construction, the wooden structure\u00a0focuses\u00a0on the terrain material, and it stands supported by wooden pillars through the slopes, creating a suspended part, covering a platform below more related with the terrain, creating an area more quiet and shaded.<\/p>\n\n
