{"id":58135,"date":"2018-06-12T10:02:02","date_gmt":"2018-06-12T08:02:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.area-arch.it\/en\/?p=58135"},"modified":"2018-08-27T10:22:24","modified_gmt":"2018-08-27T08:22:24","slug":"fjordenhus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.area-arch.it\/en\/fjordenhus\/","title":{"rendered":"Fjordenhus"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>Fjordenhus<\/strong>\u00a0<\/em>is the first building designed entirely by the polyhedric artist Olafur Eliasson, Sebastian Behmann and the architectural team <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/olafureliasson.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Studio Olafur Eliasson<\/a><\/strong>.<br \/>\nBeginning from the <em>Serpentine Gallery Pavilion<\/em> 2007, designed together with Kjetil Thorsen, then <em>Your rainbow panorama<\/em>, a 150-metre circular, coloured-glass walkway situated on top of ARoS Aarhus Art Museum, and later with the <em>Harpa Reykjavik Concert Hall and Conference Centre<\/em>,\u00a0Olafur Eliasson has extended his limits to the architectural field.<br \/>\nIn 2014\u00a0a new international office for art and architecture,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.studiootherspaces.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Studio Other Spaces<\/a> was founded by Olafur Eliasson and Sebastian Behmann and today it is formed by\u00a0over one hundred people, from craftsmen and specialised technicians to architects, archivists, researchers, art historians, cooks, and administrators, capable of giving birth to\u00a0an amount of worthy and special artworks, known\u00a0all over the world.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_58121\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-58121\" style=\"width: 1280px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-58121\" src=\"https:\/\/www.area-arch.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2018\/06\/Fjordenhus_121764.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1280\" height=\"853\" srcset=\"https:\/\/static.tecnichenuove.it\/areaarch\/2018\/06\/Fjordenhus_121764.jpg 1280w, https:\/\/static.tecnichenuove.it\/areaarch\/2018\/06\/Fjordenhus_121764-150x100.jpg 150w, https:\/\/static.tecnichenuove.it\/areaarch\/2018\/06\/Fjordenhus_121764-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/static.tecnichenuove.it\/areaarch\/2018\/06\/Fjordenhus_121764-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/static.tecnichenuove.it\/areaarch\/2018\/06\/Fjordenhus_121764-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/static.tecnichenuove.it\/areaarch\/2018\/06\/Fjordenhus_121764-696x464.jpg 696w, https:\/\/static.tecnichenuove.it\/areaarch\/2018\/06\/Fjordenhus_121764-1068x712.jpg 1068w, https:\/\/static.tecnichenuove.it\/areaarch\/2018\/06\/Fjordenhus_121764-630x420.jpg 630w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1280px) 100vw, 1280px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-58121\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">photo by Anders Sune Berg<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><em><strong>Fjordenhus\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>represents the container of these creative minds, a new headquarter for the\u00a0Studio Olafur Eliasson, that it was opened to the public on last 9th of June, aiming to reflect the whole philosophy of the company through its architecture that\u00a0consists of\u00a0a \u2018work of art\u2018.<br \/>\nRising out of the water, <em>Fjordenhus<\/em> forges a striking new connection between Vejle Fjord and the city centre of Vejle, that is one of Jutland peninsula\u2019s thriving economic hubs.<br \/>\nAs one moves from the train station towards the harbour, <em>Fjordenhus<\/em> comes into view across the expansive plaza of the manmade Havne\u00f8en, a mixed-use residential and commercial area currently in development. From here, residents and visitors can access the ground floor of Fjordenhus via a footbridge or stroll along the jetty designed by G\u00fcnther Vogt. Both the architectural spaces and Eliasson\u2019s artworks engage in a dialogue with the ever-changing surface of the water.<br \/>\nFormed by four intersecting cylinders, <em>Fjordenhus<\/em> soars to a height of twenty-eight metres. Rounded negative volumes have been carved from its facades of custom-glazed brick to create an extraordinary architectural statement of complex curved, circular, and elliptical forms, torqueing walls and parabolic arches.
