Amongst their tangible benefits, the effects of mega-events on cities are visible because they are catalysts for economic transformation, help upgrade urban infrastructure, strengthen the international image of the city and accelerate the implementation of desired urban policies and improve the quality of urban environment.<br \/>\nMega-events such as World Expos, Olympic Games, FIFA Cup, could offer an accelerated route of growth leveraging powerful national and international partnerships of both a public and private nature<span style=\"text-decoration: line-through\">.<br \/>\n<\/span>As a consequence of mega-events, the Urban Regeneration of cities is enlarged to all sectors of a city\u2019s life and administration, and it bringing benefits across all sectors: public spaces, housing, infrastructure, culture, environment, economy, services, etc.<br \/>\nBeginning from this statements, the debate\u00a0<strong>Milano-Mosca<\/strong>,\u00a0planned on <strong>May 26th, 2018<\/strong>\u00a0at\u00a0<strong>Triennale di Milano<\/strong>,\u00a0will tackle two different cities that host mega-events in distinct timeframe with the objective to analyze the effects and impacts of the urban context and its urban development, the strategy and vision that lay behind it, and the acceleration of the development of the future planning.<br \/>\nTwo very different\u00a0cities but with an analog urban regeneration that increased the quality of life will be taken in exam: Milan and Moscow.<br \/>\nIn particular, the discussion will focus on the past urban redevelopment of public spaces, on infrastructures and housing happened in <strong>Milan<\/strong> for World Expo 2015.<br \/>\nThe effects of that event will be discussed in public, such as the consolidation of the Milano along the Nord-west axes that runs along the Expo Area of Rho-Pero, the high speed train and motorway. Specifically it will be presented the urban regeneration of \u201cCascina Merlata\u201d quarter that became a new centrality during the Expo 2015 for housing that hosted invited countries and now is becoming a \u201cnew centriphery\u201d of Milano, with new model of social housing developing, commercial areas with green integration.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_57014\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-57014\" style=\"width: 1280px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-57014 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.area-arch.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2018\/05\/Moscow-public-spaces.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1280\" height=\"721\" srcset=\"https:\/\/static.tecnichenuove.it\/areaarch\/2018\/05\/Moscow-public-spaces.jpg 1280w, https:\/\/static.tecnichenuove.it\/areaarch\/2018\/05\/Moscow-public-spaces-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/static.tecnichenuove.it\/areaarch\/2018\/05\/Moscow-public-spaces-768x433.jpg 768w, https:\/\/static.tecnichenuove.it\/areaarch\/2018\/05\/Moscow-public-spaces-1024x577.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/static.tecnichenuove.it\/areaarch\/2018\/05\/Moscow-public-spaces-696x392.jpg 696w, https:\/\/static.tecnichenuove.it\/areaarch\/2018\/05\/Moscow-public-spaces-1068x602.jpg 1068w, https:\/\/static.tecnichenuove.it\/areaarch\/2018\/05\/Moscow-public-spaces-746x420.jpg 746w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1280px) 100vw, 1280px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-57014\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Moscow public spaces<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Regarding <strong>Moscow<\/strong>, the ongoing public spaces redevelopment of the most important streets for the final World Football Cup 2018 will be taken in consideration. In fact, due to the final game of FIFA 2018 in Moscow, there has been a definition\u00a0of \u201cUrban Standards\u201d that establish guidelines of streets and public spaces by providing guidelines for the principal planning, spatial, and architectural organization of greenery, streets, parks, squares.\u00a0<strong>Strelka KB<\/strong> undertook the management of the Moscow government\u2019s \u201cMy Street\u201d program \u2014 the biggest renovation project in the city\u2019s modern history. Since 2015, Strelka KB has supervised redesign efforts for 250 city streets, avenues, and embankments. The total length of the renovated streets amounts to 50 kilometers.<br \/>\nThe event will take place\u00a0at Triennale of Milano, on <strong>26th of May 2018 from 10.30 to 12.00, during Arch-Week events\u00a0<\/strong>and it will last one afternoon.<br \/>\nThe structure will be made by a series of presentations and a final common debate.<br \/>\nTo begin, the curator\u00a0<strong>Giovanna Carnevali<\/strong>, (International project development) will give an introduction of the topic, speaking about the\u00a0process of regeneration created by Mega-Events on cities.<br \/>\nThen,\u00a0Prof. Luigi Borr\u00e8,\u00a0President Euromilano, Dott. Attilio di Cunto, CEO Euromilano, and Arch. Giovanna Longhi, will talk about the\u00a0urban transformation of \u201cCascina Merlata\u201d masterplan: a new centrality for Milano, urban strategy, projects and development.<br \/>\nLater on, it will follow the lecture \u201cUp Town District\u201c, curated by\u00a0Arch. Emanuela Recchi, President CEO Recchi Engineering, Ing. Umberto Zanetti, Founder of ZDA &#8211; Zanetti Design Architettura.<br \/>\nThen, the event \u201cMoscow streets: vision, strategy, and management of the projects\u201c will be held by\u00a0Arch.\u00a0<strong>Denis Leontiev<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>CEO Strelka KB<\/strong>, that will introduce the Russian contemporary situation.<br \/>\nIn conclusion, a panel discussion will be moderated by\u00a0Dott. Giovanna Carnevali,\u00a0and\u00a0Prof. Arch.
