To construct a winery for private production and consumption in a singular setting, the beginnings of a vale, at the foot of a mountain, in a protected space, these are the engine of the project.<\/p>\n

In this environment constructions of different nature appear, including a chapel, which is situated at the foot of the mountain. On the path which joins all of these elements, appears a covered, depressed stretch, where lie, buried under the vines, like a comb, the production rooms of the winery.<\/p>\n

Not a singular space but a promenade which allows for the discovery of different spaces whose undulating path accentuates its own dimension. Advantage is taken of the inertia contained within this excavated environment to avoid energy consumption in the creation of its specific ambient qualities, whose singular perception, is the result of its spatial geometry and materials, steel and rock, which wrap you in this underground, refreshing, isolated world, where one feels another tempo.<\/p>\n

Rafael Aranda, Carme Pigem and Ramon Vilalta are architects since 1987, and in 1988 began their own studio, RCR Arquitectes, in Olot. They won the National Award 2005 of Architecture in Catalonia. Since 1989 they have been Consultant Architects to the Natural Park of National Interest in the Volcanic Zone of La Garrotxa and during their careers have tutored in Urbanism (1989-2001, Vilalta) and Studio Projects from (1992-2004, Pigem). Authors of essays and articles about architecture and landscape. They have won various competitions (the most recent, the crematorium Hofhedide in Belgium) and they have received distinctions for their work (most notably twice finalist in the Mies Van der Rohe awards in the European Union) what\u2019s being exhibited such as On-Site: New Architecture in Spain, in New York, and published (the book Between abstraction and nature by Gustavo Gili is the most representative).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
