Transformer was one of the key words during the first meeting with the owner. This word defines the scope of the design, that is to create a Yacht capable of changing its function and appearance while satisfying different purposes. The mutation of the yacht was one of the most relevant aspects which drove all the choices concerning the design.
\nMystere is meant to store a large number of tenders during navigation, and to be a floating fun island during days and nights at anchor.
\nIt can be considered a beach club, a resort on the sea, a disco on the water, an island\u2026or simply a place where friends and family can relax.
\nMy first thought was to study the \u201cimportant\u201d lines which define the soul of the ship, to understand its history, and what type of construction could enable it to remain at sail for a long time. So I began to strip the design of all those structures which, in my opinion, needed to be \u201caesthetically reinforced\u201d\u00a0and gently re-shaped in order to obtain a more pleasant look. The great challenge was to create a new aesthetic, starting from a working vessel that was\u00a0built to store mud and oil. The original stand alone wheel house and the mid ship boxy hangar needed to be joined together with a new structure, in order to make the superstructure look like a single volume from the bow to the aft terrace.\u00a0The hangar is used as\u00a0a large tender garage during navigation, and it transforms into an amazing beach club when the tenders are launched at sea. At night, the ceiling and the side curtain come to life transforming the space into an amazing world characterized by lights and sounds. Like an octopus changes the colour of its skin, Mystere\u2018s hangar changes its body making people feel different. For the ceiling, I wanted the hangar to be made of a transformable skin which could convey to the guests different emotions throughout day and night. During the day, the hangar is used as a relax area with big modular sofas placed\u00a0in the shade. All sofas are made in teak and are modular in order to allow different\u00a0layouts. At both ends of the hangar, two large 5 meter wide screens come down from\u00a0the ceiling in order to watch movies. The interior and exterior deck is covered with\u00a0synthetic teak, which is a simple solution to protect the deck from scratches during\u00a0parties and when moving the large heavy tender cradles.
\nLarge tenders and different types of toys are stored inside the hangar during navigation. The large interior garage used to store tenders during navigation transforms into an amazing beach club when the tenders are launched at sea.\u00a0Thanks to the modular system used for the sofas, the layout can be changed for dining or\u00a0lounging according to the number of guests on board.
\nA large aft platform was added\u00a0to the stern, higher than the previous one in order to keep it dry. The aft step allows\u00a0boarding of different size tenders. The round Jacuzzi was built in steel and covered\u00a0with Jerusalem stone and top teak.
\nThe actual position of the SPA was previously occupied by two large mud storages. The idea was to make one single open space and to position the main pillars in order to free a central area as the heart of the SPA. The Hamman, the Jacuzzi, the Sauna and the massage room are placed in the four corners of the room leaving the center to a spacious relax area with two sofas. The Tropical shower and the Ice shower are placed on portside, while the gym is on the starboard.<\/p>\n
