After playing a leading role in the history of our country’s costumes and mobility for 65 years, Vespa celebrates the 150 years since the unification of Italy: Vespa PX, 150th Anniversary of the Unification of Italy, is now born. The Vespa has played a part in the history of our country, and of many others, for many years as a unique phenomenon of mobility and costume. It is among the best-known symbols of Italian creativity and industry all over the world.
Born 65 years ago – the patent and the first series that went into production date from the spring of 1946 - in the years after World War II Vespa has represented the perfect means of escape and conquest of individual mobility for millions of Italians. It has been synonymous with music, rebellion, romanticism and escape, the promise of freedom for everyone, the symbol of the years of the “Dolce Vita”. It has played a prominent part in the “revolution of ideas” achieved by youths in the Sixties and Seventies. It has welcomed rock’n roll in Europe, and the MTV generation and digital music some years later. Incredible as it may sound, more than 17 million Vespa scooters have been produced by now, and it is still known and sold all over the world, from Europe to the United States to Asia. To celebrate the 150 years’ anniversary since the Unification of Italy, the Piaggio Group has created a special series of Vespa PX 150, characterized by an elegant white livery against which the inserts in the green-white-red of the Italian  tricolour stand out by contrast on the flanks and on the front shield, which also sports the official logo of the 150th anniversary 1861-2011. On the inside of the front, on the contrary, an identification plate that certifies that each bike belongs to this special celebratory series can be found.
