The thirteenth edition of Ortinparco, the festival dedicated to everything that makes garden and issues related to it, will be held in Levico Terme, in Valsugana - Trentino, April 22 to 25, in the picturesque setting of the historic Park Terme. The symbol of the of Levico Terme, the Habsburg park, created in the early '900 when Levico Terme was the favorite holiday destination of the Austro-Hungarian nobility, covers an area of 12 hectares and it is home to majestic trees of native and exotic species.
Reproducing memory of culture and cultural traditions, the initiative will renew creatively peasant and artisan wisdom, with the aim of bringing the garden on a complex nobility plan.
The theme for 2016 will be legumes.
The United Nations declared 2016 the international year of legumes, turning the spotlight on a family of important plants in the diet, with the aim to arrive in 2020 to 20% of total protein consumed by the human species worldwide . The conversion from animal protein to vegetable ones involves greater energy efficiency, improvement of soils, water savings and greater social equity. The ornamental plants sector also uses manys species of legumes.
Ortinparco, organized by the Servizio per il sostegno occupazionale e la valorizzazione ambientale della Provincia autonoma di Trento, provides about thirty creative installations and interpretations of vegetable gardens, exhibitions, trade and sale of garden plants, horticultural plants and products derived and processed by nurseries and farms. The rich cultural program offers original educational and creative workshops for children and adults. There will be spaces dedicated to seminar activities, musical and theatrical moments. A colorful market of farmers and crafts will be part of the initiative.
