The intervention area is called “Free Area AA-Vicentina”. It is situated in the southwest part of Osasco, in the Jardim Roberto neighborhood. The housing area, on which the intervention is proposed, has about 94.618,36 square meters. The area is partially urbanized and a big part of its extension is situated in a valley way. The irregular and disorganized growth generates serious environmental impacts that are very dangerous for the local population.
The biggest part of the existing houses has two floors and is built in brick. But the dwellings in front of the stream and some of the houses that are situated in the slopes show bad conditions of construction. Some of them are built in wood. In these areas the risks of contamination, flooding or slipping are very high and the houses are poorly built. Therefore it is necessary to totally remove these units and relocate the population that live there to another area. Due to all the risky situations and the bad conditions of the existing houses, the intervention project is proposed in two big sectors: one is located in the slopes, where there is a serious risk of slipping. And the other is in the area next to the stream, where the flooding risk is permanent. In the area of the slopes, the project proposes six residential buildings with an amount of units that can be different by building depending on its situation. The typology of these units has two bedrooms in each apartment.
In the area of the stream, three different types of units are proposed. They are linearly grouped along the canalized stream, so then they establish two new urban fronts on each side of the road axis where services are proposed. The block called Typology 01 defines three big residential buildings linearly grouped in the southwest border of the services road. In the northeast border, one big building is also defined with 36 units of the typology 01, together with five other buildings of the typology 02 and two more blocks of the typology 01. In the extreme south of this northeast border there is one block of the typology 03 next to a green public area and to the slope sector. In the extreme opposite side, there is one more building of the typology 03 that completes the total amount of new housing units.
