Il progetto prevedeva la costruzione di una cantina vinicola, destinata alla produzione privata, all’interno di un paesaggio unico, all’inizio di una vallata e ai piedi di una montagna. In questo ambiente sorgono varie costruzioni di differente tipologia tra le quali anche una cappella religiosa che si erge proprio alla base della montagna.

Lungo il percorso che collega questi diversi elementi una vasta radura cela le sale della cantina sepolte tra i vitigni. Non un unico spazio ma una vera promenade che permette la scoperta di molteplici stanze attraverso un sentiero ondulato che accentua la loro dimensione.

La creazione di un ambiente ipogeo consente di limitare al massimo il consumo energetico, mantenendo al contempo le sue specifiche qualità ambientali, che sono il risultato della geometria spaziale e dei materiali scelti: l’acciaio e la pietra che avvolgono questo mondo sotterraneo, fresco e isolato dove batte un ritmo differente.

Rafael Aranda, Carme Pigem and Ramon Vilalta are architects since 1987, and in 1988 began their own studio, RCR Arquitectes, in Olot. They won the National Award 2005 of Architecture in Catalonia. Since 1989 they have been Consultant Architects to the Natural Park of National Interest in the Volcanic Zone of La Garrotxa and during their careers have tutored in Urbanism (1989-2001, Vilalta) and Studio Projects from (1992-2004, Pigem). Authors of essays and articles about architecture and landscape. They have won various competitions (the most recent, the crematorium Hofhedide in Belgium) and they have received distinctions for their work (most notably twice finalist in the Mies Van der Rohe awards in the European Union) what’s being exhibited such as On-Site: New Architecture in Spain, in New York, and published (the book Between abstraction and nature by Gustavo Gili is the most representative).
